The Sugar Studio is at the end of a 1/2 mile long bumpy private road and is not ideal for cake hauling. I choose to meet at a public location so you don't have to deal with cake hauling anxiety as well as respect the privacy of my neighbors. Pickups later than 15 minutes after the set pickup time will need to be rescheduled.
When picking up an order, it needs to sit on a flat surface (either the back of an SUV or the passenger side floor) and kept very cool during transport. Cookies need to sit flat and be stored in a cool, dry area. I am not responsible for any damage caused after the cake/cookies are picked up. Please carefully inspect your order at the time of pickup and let me know if there are any issues.
Cookies are best within 3 days of pickup. Individually packaged cookies will stay fresh up to a week. Cookies should never be refrigerated but can be frozen should you have to postpone your event (I cannot guarantee the quality of the design once the cookies have been frozen).
I offer delivery within a 15 mile radius of Apollo for $20+$1/mile round trip. Any tolls or parking fees will be added to this.
Deposits-
After I have received an order inquiry, I will follow up with any additional questions and a detailed quote for the order if I am available to add it to my schedule. Orders will be secured once I have received the requested deposit amount of $25 (may be larger depending on the order size.). The date will be held for 2 days after the deposit is requested. After 2 days, the date will become available to other customers. Any late deposits sent after my schedule has filled will be returned, minus transaction fees. Deposits are non- refundable but may be transferred to a future order if enough notice is given and I am able to fill that spot (at least 2 weeks).
Final Payments
All payments are due in full 5 days before the order pickup date. An email will be sent 1 week prior to the order date to confirm all the details and give a final balance due. This will be the final opportunity to change any details or quantities on the order (subject to my time/availability). Payments not received by the requested date will result in a cancellation of the order. I will always reach out by email, phone, text, social media before cancelling an order- I never want to cancel an order and will do my best to make contact before it comes to that!

Refunds are not given on custom orders. Please be sure to inspect your order for quality and accuracy upon pickup. A sample is taken from every product made to ensure that it is delicious and fresh (I have the best job, right?). Should you ever have any issues with the taste of your order, please contact me personally so that I can understand the issue and hopefully provide a solution to keep you as a happy customer!
At this time, I do not offer products for those with severe food allergies. My kitchen has a lot of gluten, dairy, peanut/nut products, eggs, dyes and other known allergens in constant use. The risk of cross contamination is too high for me to safely offer these items to customers with food allergies. For those who choose Gluten or dairy free for dietary reasons, I am happy to substitute gluten flour for a gluten free blend ("made without") but in no way label the products as Gluten Free/ Dairy Free. Please see the “Made without Gluten" category for information, pricing and products available. I do not offer sugar free products.
I cannot accommodate those with severe food allergies and strongly recommend you use a bakery that has been certified "free" of these allergens.
Cake toppers and fresh flowers are ordered by the customer and can be given to me ahead of time or the day of the event to be placed on the cake. I am also happy to coordinate with your florist for fresh flower placement if your cake is being delivered to the event. If the flowers/toppers are placed by someone else, I am not responsible for the method in which this is done or any damage caused to the cake. Flowers added to the cake should be NON TOXIC and have a barrier between the stems and the cake itself (floral tape, straws, foil, safety seal and stems dipped in chocolate are all great options).
I no longer make 3D fondant figures for cakes. Any figures on your inspiration cake will need to be purchased toys or fondant figures from Etsy. All of my character toppers are 2D hand painted/drawn on fondant or printed edible images.
All cakes should be kept refrigerated before the event and displayed in a cool room. Fondant covered cakes are especially temperamental to changes in temperature and can sweat/melt when exposed to heat. Both fondant and buttercream cakes can shift/melt/slide or collapse with prolonged heat exposure.
The Sugar Studio uses Swiss Meringue Buttercream to fill and decorate all cakes. The buttercream will always be firm when cold (like butter). Most cake recipes utilized also contain a *nice amount* of butter so it is necessary to allow your cake to come to room temperature for the best cake quality and texture. Make sure to remove your cake from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature about an hour or two prior to the event (time varies depending on cake size) so the buttercream softens and the cake slices easily. A cold cake will be very firm. Leftovers should be wrapped well after cutting and kept refrigerated for up to 3 days. For long term storage, sliced cake may be frozen for up to a month. Orders may be placed for dates that fall Thursday- Sunday. The Sugar Studio is closed Monday- Wednesday.
My calendar for custom orders generally fills up at least 4-6 months in advance. If the Order Inquiry form is not available on my website, it means I am fully booked and have closed orders for a certain time period. I do my best to accommodate last minute orders when I can but always need at least a 1 week notice to complete an order. A rush fee of $25 may be added for last minute orders or existing orders that increase significantly in size.
Custom orders are not taken during the weeks of Valentines Day, the 4th of July, Halloween and Thanksgiving but holiday preorder items will be available for purchase during those times. The month of December is closed for custom orders to allow time for holiday presales and special events.
Theme choices and inspiration pictures need to be provided at the time of scheduling. There are several themes I cannot accommodate and some I choose not to do. It is necessary for me to see the theme and the ideas you have when deciding to take on the order or not. Some themes are very time consuming, which will need to be factored into my schedule and price quote as well. I do not offer exact replicas of cakes and cookies done by other artists but will use your inspiration photos and ideas to come up with a one of a kind custom piece for your event.
Icing colors may vary. I'll do my best to match the colors as close as I can, but colors can vary based on many reasons outside of my control. Placing an order with The Sugar Studio means that you agree that the colors may vary from inspiration photos and invitations. There are also certain techniques and styles that do not fit my brand and are better suited for another baker. I would be happy to provide recommendations in that case!
* If a theme is not provided in the initial inquiry, or the theme changes at a later date, I may no longer be able to accommodate the order. Any deposit sent will be refunded, minus transaction fees and the cost of supplies I have already invested in the order.
